My first trip to the Scottish Festival in Columbus, Indiana http://www.scottishfestival.org). I learned a lot - I now know what some men wear under their kilts! Seriously, I did learn a lot about the Highland Games and all things Scottish. I'm not going to try haggis anytime soon, but I would like to go back - and not just for the men in kilts!
My first impression of the Highland Games is that they might come from a long tradition of Scottish guys saying to each other, "See that heavy thing over there? I bet I can throw it farther than you can." In this event, participants throw a 56 pound weight over a bar. After each round, the bar is raised.
