We drove around the park for what seemed like hours looking for buffalo and hoping the rain would let up. We finally found some about the time the downpour became a drizzle.

Amy Drake > Mount Rushmore. We stopped for this just before the rain started.

Amy Drake > Mount Rushmore. I took the standard shot of the presidents, but I was much more impressed with the mix of people there. I heard at least three languages and several American dialects as we were walking under the state flags. I pulled back and tried to get a sense of that here.

Amy Drake > I'll have to check Bonnie's travel journal to find out where we were when I took this. We were driving through a little town when we saw this sign and I was overcome with missing my Nana (who is named Edna - a lot of people only know her as Nana, but she has another name).

Amy Drake > Somewhere in Washington. The GPS (we call him Graeme) took us down a gravel road that became a dirt road. At first we thought Graeme was messing with us. But the amber waves seemed appropriate to the trip.
